Ashesi Alumni on the World Affairs Council

The World Affairs Council presents leadership and alumni from Ashesi University in Ghana for a panel discussion on fostering innovation and ethical leadership in Africa with the goal of sustained development on the continent. Representing a diversity of expertise and backgrounds, panelists will provide an engaging discussion on their experiences in working for progress in Africa. The discussion will feature exclusive video remarks from Bill Gates, Co-Chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Panelists include Dr. Patrick Awuah (Founder and President of Ashesi University), Peter Woicke (Former MD of The World Bank & Executive Vice-Chairman of IFC, currently Board Chair for Ashesi Foundation), Alumnus Aba Ackun (Regional Credit Risk Manager for Accion International, Ghana) and Alumnus Araba Amuasi (Operations Manager for the Village of Hope Orphanage and School, Ghana).

Ashesi University is the first private liberal arts college in Ghana and features an innovative curriculum that combines professional training with courses on leadership and ethics. Ashesi’s mission is to educate a new generation of ethical, entrepreneurial leaders in Africa; to cultivate within its students the critical thinking skills, the concern for others, and the courage it will take to transform a continent. The university boasts students from 10 African nations in addition to Ghana and nearly 50% of the student body is represented by women.
